Kearney Branch Teen Book Talk
June 23, 2010
The Kearney branch teen book talk selection for July is Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson. Tyler Miller has been nobody his entire life. That is, until he's caught spraying grafitti on the school walls and has to do time with the custodial staff all summer to make up for his crime. When school finally begins again, Tyler can't quite believe he's going back in full focus of, and possibly going out with, Bethany Milbury, the currently reigning queen bee of secondary education. Is his physical transformation enough to spark a change in his entire life? Tyler thinks so until it all goes amazingly, horribly wrong.
Twisted, with its tip of the hat to black comedy, does what all good cautionary tales should do: leaves the reader with the certainty that something would be missing in their life without it. Don't miss out on this.
Discussion begins at 7 pm at the Kearney branch. Snacks are provided!
