Kansas City Auto Show Coming
February 25, 2011
It’s almost time for my favorite show of the year, The Auto Show at Bartle Hall in downtown Kansas City. For anyone who enjoys seeing all the new cars & trucks, this is a don’t miss event. It runs from March 2nd – March 6th, 2011. Several of the brands I really like have made substantial upgrades to their models this year, and I’m anxious to see the changes.
Ever since I was a little boy, I have been a car buff. In fact, I still have most of the cars and trucks I played with as a child because I just can’t part with them. Some people may say that’s more of a sign of being a packrat, but I don’t see it that way. Now I have to admit, I’m not the most mechanical. So, if you’re talking to me about cars and trucks, don’t get all technical. I can tell you a little bit about most cars and trucks on the market and on the road, especially those from our domestic producers.
I bring all of this up since new or used car research has always been a big topic people have turned to libraries for. When searching for a car, you want to make sure the model you choose is right for you. Now if you won’t be able to make it to the auto show, Mid Continent Public Library is a wonderful source to assist you in your research. We have many electronic resources available to help, including Consumers Report online, links to both Edmunds.Com and the Kelly Blue Book. Many branches also still carry print versions of Edmunds and Kelly Blue Book. Two other good sources are Consumers Guide auto series, both in print and at WWW.CONSUMERGUIDEAUTO.COM and CARS.COM.
So, next time you’re ready to kick the tires and contemplate replacing your ride, don’t forget your local library and all the assistance we can offer.
