From Junk To Art

November 30, 2011

I sure hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving Holiday. I know I had a relaxing holiday with family that I haven't seen for a while, followed by crazy shopping, and vegging out on the couch. I suppose that I should recommend a couple of good exercise or fitness tomes, but I'm not really in the mood at this time. Maybe for a New Year's resolution? Stay tuned (hopefully before I gain 10 pounds).

In the meantime, let me tell you about an activity we have scheduled next Tuesday, December 6 at 4:00 p.m. at the Riverside Branch. Nearly every household has one: that drawer in the kitchen, garage, basement, or workshop where all the leftover parts and pieces of various projects end up—the junk drawer. Instead of leaving the drawer to overflow with stuff, why not join us for the Junk Drawer Sculpture experience? Bring your unidentified (and otherwise useless) items along with bottle caps, jar lids, and any other so-called trash, and watch as they blend into works of art. Help with home organization, space allocation, and recycling as you collect your materials. We will have some materials to connect the pieces into sculpture, but feel free to bring your own household junk with sentimental value.

Looking forward to seeing you there!!! Be sure to register at 816.741.6288!
