June is National Audiobook Month!
June 13, 2012
Did you know that June is National Audiobook Month? Have you ever listened to a book? Do you have a favorite reader? There are just so many factors that make an audiobook great, right?
One of my very favorite audiobooks is I Feel Bad about My Neck by Nora Ephron. In this hilarious chronicle, Ephron gives us her life broken into chapters entitled I Hate my Purse and The Lost Strudel or Le Strudel Perdu, among others. Aside from her biting humor and honest straight-talk about reality, the fact that it’s read by her really puts this audiobook a notch above others. She gives us the truth about life’s eccentricities even when it hurts and reminds us that if you’re not laughing, you’re crying. She’s a woman’s woman and that’s exactly how her novel reads (or, in this case, how she reads it to you). In celebration of National Audiobook Month, pick up one and jam to the words of a brilliant author in the car or while you work out. You might find that you enjoy it even more than your music.
Don’t forget, the library offers both physical and downloadable audiobooks!
