Jokes, Pranks & Hoaxes
March 29, 2011
Have you ever had a practical joke played on you? Have you ever played a practical joke on someone else? Odds are that you did and have, and odds are you probably did it on April 1st, otherwise known as April Fool’s Day. That is the day when jokes, pranks, hoaxes and general foolishness prevail.
How did April Fool’s Day start? No one is really sure, but is has been thought that when the Julian Calendar changed over to the Gregorian calendar, making New Year’s Day on January 1st instead of the end of March, that the person who still celebrated New Year’s on April 1st because of slow moving news in those days was called an "April Fool." It is not a so called legal holiday, but more or less a simple, fun holiday. So when April rolls around, you must be careful that you end up as the "fool -er" instead of the "fooled"! Is that a spider in your hair? Your shoe is untied! Don't look now, but the police are coming. APRIL FOOLS!!
