Jacob and Edward Who? Sorry Guys, I'm on Team Dimitri.

I love Twilight. Every year I take the day off to see the movies and I’ve read all of the books. In fact, I even bought The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner because I couldn’t wait for my hold (and let me assure you, a librarian buying instead of borrowing takes extraordinary dedication).

But in all of the frenzy of Jacob vs. Edward, I think someone very important gets overlooked. Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy series has all of the intrigue, romance, and top notch fight scenes of Twilight PLUS a non-brooding vampire hero with a Russian accent and superior fighting skills. In other words, Dimitri is a hero with all of Edward and Jacob’s best characteristics combined.

Rose and Dimitri are definitely an “Antony and Cleopatra” to Bella and Edward’s “Romeo and Juliet.” Oh sure, Romeo and Juliet is romantic but Antony and Cleopatra… well, that’s timeless romance too and neither of them live with their parents.
