It's Too Hot to Cook!
September 04, 2012
When the temperature easily reaches 100 degrees on a daily basis, you may feel like me and not want to cook. So what will you eat? Possibilities include sandwiches, frozen dinners in the microwave, and cereal. If you are looking for a healthy alternative, why not try a salad?
MCPL has a lot of cookbooks, but did you know that there are books dedicated to salad recipes? One such book is Salad Days: Recipes for Delicious Organic Salads and Dressings for Every Season by Pam Powell.
One thing that I really love about this book is that it divides the salad recipes into seasons so that you can buy your produce fresh, instead of having it shipped from far away. The Cobb salad is one of my favorite salads, and Salad Days has a recipe for one called the Farmers’ Market Cobb Salad with Buttermilk and Peppercorn Dressing. I tried it and it was delicious! I cannot wait to try some more recipes.
If that sounds good to you too, check out this recipe book and the many others that the Library has to choose from. Happy eating!
