It's Never Too Late to Jump on the Bus
February 23, 2014
I am late, incredibly late. What for? Oh, just the bus to Rick Riordan’s world where Greek mythology is far more than just myth. I recently finished gobbling down an audiobook of the first of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, The Lightning Thief. This book was made into a movie in 2010. I saw the movie but had never got around to reading the book. After the holidays, I took a few days to recover with a puzzle, and I wanted something to listen to while I did that. I searched through the OverDrive collection and discovered that The Lightning Thief was available on audiobook. I had the whole thing downloaded and playing within about twenty minutes. As I listened, I began wondering what had taken me so long to finally read this book. It’s well written, with a great adventure and well done characters, and it’s the cherry on top that I like the narrator. I confess, I was very late for the bus. But now I'm on it and intend to ride it to the end. Anybody want to join me?
