Is It a Boy or a Girl?
September 06, 2011
Despite the trend towards natural childbirth, including unmedicated labor and water births, the expecting population of Europe has jumped at the chance to find out the sex of their unborn child as early as 7 weeks after conception, a Boston Globe article reports.
In the United States, at around 20 weeks, the sex of a child can be determined by an ultrasound, but this test is not as accurate as the blood test circulating through Europe, the article reports.
I'd be interested to know: would you find out early...that is 12-14 weeks earlier if you were having a boy or a girl? Some couples still opt to be surprised when their child is born, but I, for one, am planning on finding out which gender I am pregnant with, and would love to have that information a couple of months early. However, this test does come with a price tag around $200.
