Introducing Freegal!

September 21, 2012

Attention all music lovers! MCPL now offers free music downloads to customers. Yes, you read that right! FREE music downloads. Freegal, our new downloadable music service, has millions of songs available for absolutely no price. Tired of searching through CDs or paying fees to find the music you want? Then, check out this fantastic free database!

Anyone with a current MCPL library card in good standing can use the service. Songs can be downloaded and played using any of your standard music players, including iTunes and Windows Media Player. They can also be burned to a CD directly from your computer.

Freegal does limit customers to only three downloads per week. However, a handy count down box on their site lets you know how many downloads you have left. Once the new week starts, your account is reset with three all new downloads!

If you don’t have a personal home computer, don’t worry. MCPL public computers have the capability to download music as well. Just bring in a temporary storage device (i.e. a flash drive) and plug it in. Downloads can be saved to the device before being moved to an MP3 player or other audio device.

Freegal provides a great way to save money and still find the music you want. Popular songs, old favorites, and new artists are all available. Check it out to find the songs you want without the hassle of worrying about the cost!
