Inject a Little Federation Into Your Day.
November 11, 2010
There are leaves to rake, if the wind will leave them alone long enough to bag. There’s a meal to cook, but my imagination level is low today. A cold front is coming in, but ho hum, that's to be expected. It's November.
Last night, I saw the funniest thing on the Internet! It was a video linked to a story about an Australian news website that carried an article, which inaccurately described the service records of the Captains of the Federation Starship Enterprise! How could a media outlet get something so engrained in our planet's culture so wrong? The site became clogged with comments from trekkies determined to set the author and website straight. After all, in this world of poverty, disease, war, and environmental disasters, it matters terribly which Enterprise (A, B, C, D or E) was commanded by James Tiberius Kirk or Jean-Luc Picard. In the future, the fact-checkers at that site will enjoy unprecedented job security!
Okay, back to the funny thing! The article featured a link to a rap video smash-up of Picard scenes. Maybe you’ve seen it, (the video has over a million hits) but if you haven’t, please take a look at it. It's a little silly, a little twisted. To assist the most discriminating parent, I’d rate it PG. And just to further show how enduring and obsessing the Star Trek universe is, here’s a link to a Star Trek chronology that I saved to my Favorites a few months ago.
Time to get back to those leaves. Live long and prosper!
