I'm a Bird Watcher!
August 09, 2012
I have a fascination for my feathered friends, and I am amazed at who comes from afar to visit my backyard. Birds are such a delight, and they add so much beauty, mystery, and drama to each day.
If you have this interest and want to learn how to attract and feed the wild birds, may I suggest the book, An Illustrated Practical Guide to Attracting and Feeding Backyard Birds by Jen Green. This book contains a wealth of information on bird identification, expert advice on feeding, and step-by step projects for birdhouses, bird baths, and nest boxes.
Bird watching is a favorite hobby of mine, and it is so much fun to observe and listen to the backyard birds. It’s easy to get hooked, just put out seed and watch who comes to dinner!

Burroughs Audubon Center
If you're a birder or just like nature, make sure and drop by the Burroughs Audubon Center in Fleming Park, just next to the North Marina at Lake Jacomo. They have feeders galore for bird viewing, a library (yay!), field trips, bird banding sessions and more. And join our local chapter of the Audubon Society, too!
