If You Were Trapped on a Desert Island and Could Only Listen to One Band Forever, Who Would It Be?

January 31, 2013

This was the question my husband asked me last night while we split a bottle of wine at our favorite Zona Rosa BBQ restaurant. They were playing a particularly good channel of classic rock while we devoured our ribs and burnt ends. He was torn between Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin -- his ultimate choice was Pink Floyd. I don't see how we ever got married, because, between those two choices, I would have chosen the opposite.

But, that still doesn't answer the original question - what band could you listen to for the rest of your life? Of course, the only possible answer is The Beatles!!! Could you ever get tired of listening to the Fab Four? No way! They've got too many songs to list as my favorite - where to start? Even as I write this blog, I keep hearing Across The Universe going through my head. Here Comes The Sun, Norwegian Wood, Blackbird, and While My Guitar Gently Weeps . . . there's too many to name.

So, in order to pay respect to my favorite band, I've created a display in their honor. Please stop by the Riverside Branch to take a look. I am surveying our customers with a couple of  questions -- "Who is your favorite Beatle?" and "What is your favorite Beatles song?" I'll post the results in a later blog.

By the way, for all of you music lovers reading this, check out MCPL's exciting new database, Freegal.

And I always thought that George was "the cute one."

I think that's why I like George so much, also. I always root for the underdog.

Call me crazy, but I'm just in love with Queen. I could listen to Killer Queen on repeat for a week and not get sick of it. In fact I did just that about four months ago!

The Beatles

My 10 year old daughter is also a big fan of the Beatles ( thanks in part to a great 3rd grade teacher!). Her choice if she could only listen to one artist? Not Justin Beiber or Taylor Swift, but she said the Beatles! Her favorite is Octopus's Garden! Just goes to show you that the classics definitely stand the test of time!

Oh.., by the way, George is her favorite as well! She says she always felt bad for him that John and Paul were more poplar!

John Lennon and In My Life! So much so that I have the first five notes to that song tattooed on my foot!
