Horses and Dressage

June 22, 2011

The library is a place where you can find information on any topic you are interested in. I’m always searching for books about horses. I have been riding horses most of my life, and I currently own my own horse. Recently, I became interested in dressage riding. Naturally, I wanted to learn more about the sport, and I have been checking out many books and videos on the subject. I have been learning all kinds of things such as how to train my horse, warm up exercises, the rules of the sport, and tips from trainers and Olympians. The great thing is that there’s something for all levels of riders, from beginner to advanced.

For those who aren’t familiar, dressage is what many people refer to as horse ballet. In the advanced levels, the horse performs a series of unique and difficult movements that are absolutely stunning to watch. What I like about dressage is that it’s a great challenge for people who have been riding for many years or for those who are brand new. It has also helped me to become a much better rider.

Here are some books, magazines, and videos about horses and training that you can check out at your local Mid-Continent library branch.

Horse Illustrated, Horse World USA, Dressage Today
