Homemade Bread Day
November 15, 2011
I was flipping through the entries for the current week of Chases Calendar of Events 2011, and found out that Thursday, November 17th is Homemade Bread Day. The entry says, "A day for the family to remember the making, baking, and eating of nutritious homemade bread." This sounds like a day that I will enjoy because I love bread. I am particularly fond of breads that probably aren’t all that nutritious, such as zucchini bread, pumpkin bread, and beer bread...
If you like bread, try making your own this Thursday with some help from MCPL's collection of bread cookbooks. Here are a few that I thought might be a good start:
- Celebrating Quick Breads and Pastries
- The Artisan Bread Machine: 250 Recipes for Breads, Rolls, Flatbreads and Pizzas
- Artisan Breads: Practical Recipes and Detailed Instructions for Baking the World’s Finest Loaves
- Fast Breads: 50 Recipes for Easy, Delicious Bread
- Healthy Bread in Five Minutes a Day: 100 New Recipes Featuring Whole Grains, Fruits, Vegetables, and Gluten-free Ingredients
