As the Holidays approach, many families often plan fun activities to enjoy time together. Some families get together to see a holiday themed movie or maybe attend the local tree lighting ceremony. These wonderful family traditions make the holidays such a special time of year. In Excelsior Springs, where I live, it wouldn't be the holidays without visiting the Hall of Trees in the historic Hall of Waters. Each year, businesses and community organizations decorate trees for a fun and festive holiday display that children and adults alike can enjoy. Santa even makes an appearance from time to time to visit with the children and hear their wishes for Christmas.
As you gather the family together for all the fun, food, and festivities, don’t forget it is the perfect opportunity to hear family stories and gather information to begin or possibly continue a genealogy project for your family. After the holidays, the Midwest Genealogy Center will be here with great resources and a friendly staff for all your genealogy research needs.
This year, the Hall of Trees is open from November 23rd until January 1st. If you happen to find yourself on a holiday outing with family near Excelsior Springs, be sure to stop by and visit the Hall of Trees. It is located in the Hall of Waters building at 201 E. Broadway in Excelsior Springs. The staff of the Midwest Genealogy Center wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday Season.
