Hillbilly or Hunk?

July 26, 2011

When it comes to sitcoms, I like the classics such as The Beverly Hillbillies. In these tough economic times, it’s oddly refreshing to see a millionaire who could care less about money. The humble and bewildered Jed Clampett would most likely be lost in a sea of Mr. Drysdales in this day and age. The always spunky and occasionally gun toting Granny, on the other hand, would be fine. Much like Miss Hathaway, I too pine for the hunk of man-meat that is Jethro Bodine. Jethro has a 6th grade education, a bottomless stomach, and complete lack of common sense. His aspirations (he wants to be a brain surgeon, a spy, a movie producer, etc.) never seem to pan out. He pursues a new occupation practically every week, but his self-belief never wavers.

Look for this one and other classic series such as I Love Lucy, Gilligan’s Island, Green Acres and Petticoat Junction at your local library.

Love this show. I could never find out where they got all their clothes from, though.

I agree. Love the old sitcoms much better than the new ones!
