Help Make Our Holiday Greener!

I don’t know about you, but almost every season when I pull out my Christmas decorations, I have at least one strand of lights that no longer work. If you have visited one of MCPL’s branches lately, you may have noticed a new service we are offering – recycling holiday lights! Check out the recycle bin that we have here at the branch for your old holiday lights.

The light recycling program is co-sponsored by St. Louis Green and Southeast Enterprises. The St. Louis Green is hoping to divert over 128,000 pounds of lights from landfills. Southeast Enterprises is a nonprofit organization that provides employment opportunities for intellectually and developmentally disabled Jackson County citizens.

The recycle bin will be here at the branch through January 13, 2013.
