Hello, From Your Kearney Branch Staff!
November 29, 2011
Would you like to get to know the great staff at the Kearney Branch a little better? If you're nodding or still reading, then this blog's for you! Many of you know us pretty well already. We’ve worked here so long, or you’ve been coming in for so long that we feel like neighbors if not family. But our familiarity tends to stay within the context of books and reading. To broaden the perspective a bit, I conducted the following casual (and therefore possibly somewhat inaccurate) gathering of factoids about your Kearney branch staff. Enjoy!
We have: 7 full-time staff, 3 part-time staff, 10 substitutes who work whenever they’re needed, 1 custodian, and 15 pages.
College degrees among the staff include: Library Science, Public Administration, Reading Education, English Lit., Journalism, Theater, Creative Writing, Art History, and Education.
We have staff members studying for degrees in Nursing, Film Studies, Education, English Lit., and Social Science.
Hobbies include: wine making, quilting, writing, cooking, volunteering, sign language, woodworking, genealogy, comics and toys, gardening, game hunting, photography, musical performance, and of course, reading.
Second jobs include: bank employee, free-lance journalist, elementary school teacher, full time student, and shop owner.
We have 2 Saras and 1 Sarah, 1 newlywed, 6 guys, 4 staffers under the age of 18, and 9 over the age of 50.
Fifteen of us live in Kearney.
We love our pets: dogs, cats, bunnies, chickens, fish, and one African Dwarf Frog named Hoppy.
We have 42 children among us and 18 grandchildren.
In the great Coke or Pepsi debate, the majority of staffers polled preferred Dr. Pepper.
All told, we’ve worked for MCPL for 183 years!
