Health Newsletters at the Library: Great Information in Layman's Terms
March 06, 2013
Do you watch Dr. Oz or The Doctors for the most recent medical information? Do you think that you have explored the North Independence Branch of MCPL? There is another collection of resources you may want to seek out.
These are the Health Newsletters that we have in red folders in the north area of the Library near the magazines and newspapers. They are published by universities and medical centers. Examples include: Harvard Medical School Health Letter, University of California Berkley Wellness Letter and Mayo Clinic Health Letter. They have the most current information, are written in layman’s terms, and they are useful for both prevention and treatment.
There are some publications that are specifically for men or women, such as Harvard Men’s Health Watch, Harvard Women’s Health Watch and Women’s Health Advisor. Some are for specific issues and include Harvard Heart Letter, Tufts University Diet and Nutrition Letter, Nutrition Action Health Letter, Focus on Healthy Aging, and Johns Hopkins Medical Letter Health After 50.
Also, feel free to browse our Consumer Reports on Health. Like the television shows, these newsletters will help you achieve and maintain a healthy life and give you a lot of information on what’s new in the medical field.
