Harry Potter Extravaganza

So you say that you've been following Harry, Ron, Hermione, and all the others since the beginning. You've cheered and cried, celebrated and grieved. You've practically memorized all the books, watched the movies dozens of times, listened to the music from the soundtracks until you could hum the entire score, and saved all your pennies for months to go to the theme park in Florida (the day it opened). You've dressed up as characters, rattled off trivia, and decorated at least part of your room with memorabilia.

And now the end is finally approaching. The last movie... the final unknown. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, part 2 will be released in theaters on July 15th (though we know we'll all be there, waiting in line by no later than 10 pm on the 14th for the midnight showing). How are you going to commemorate such a huge event? Well, by participating in MCPL's multi-branch Harry Potter Extravaganza, of course!

Nine Mid-Continent branches are teaming up to host parties in June and July. You are invited to join us for all the fun! Dress up for the costume contest. Collect house badges from all four Hogwarts houses. Try your hand at Potions, Transfiguration, Herbology, Charms, History of Magic, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Care of Magical Creatures, and Divination. Watch the movies that led up to where we are now. Win prizes. Eat snacks. Rejoice and commiserate with fellow fans about the biggest movie of the summer (and perhaps of all time!), the grand finale of the Harry Potter series, finally being here.

• July 9th, 12 pm - Parkville Slytherin (don't hold it against us)
• July 9th, 12 pm - South Independence Slytherin (we picked from a hat)
• July 13th, 12 pm - North Independence Ravenclaw
• July 14th, 1 pm - Blue Springs North Gryffindor
• July 15th, 1 pm - Boardwalk Ravenclaw
• July 23rd, 1 pm - North Oak Gryffindor
• July 25th, 7 pm - Lone Jack Hufflepuff
• July 30th, 12 pm - Smithville Hufflepuff
