Happy Roald Dahl Day!
September 13, 2010
Did you know that Sept. 13 is National Roald Dahl day (or at least it is in both England and South Africa)? The author of Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and James and the Giant Peach (my personal favorite) was born on September 13, 1916. In total, Roald Dahl wrote 17 children’s books, the first of which was a little novella called “Gremlins” (no relation to the 1984 movie of the same title). Before his death in 1990, he wrote 19 short stories, 9 pieces of non-fiction, and a host of screenplays.
