Happy Anniversary to McDonald's
April 11, 2011
Most of us have dined at McDonald’s, or maybe it was our first job. But, do you know how this super franchise got its start? How did it become the favorite fast food place for so many people? It all began with a man named Ray Kroc.
Ray Kroc was a young man that had a golden vision—or maybe I should say a golden "arches" vision. In his travels across the county, he heard about a small restaurant called McDonald’s. There he saw people would line up to buy hamburgers and shakes. Kroc contacted Mac and Dave McDonald, the owners of the restaurant. On April 15, 1955, at Des Plaines, Illinois, Kroc opened his first McDonald’s restaurant.
Ray Kroc’s successes not only helped himself, but others as well. He donated millions to hospitals, churches, libraries, museums, and other places. Kroc’s story is inspirational not only because he shared his wealth, but also because he helped others to be successful.
