A Hair Tribute to Breast Cancer

November 09, 2012

After the month of October has come to an end, I think back to all the walks, fundraisers, programs, and events that bring awareness to the prevention of breast cancer. There are so many people who go out of their way to do so much to help and encourage others. They give of their time, talents, resources, and financial support.

We have a very special patron who comes to storytime named Naiya. Her mommy, Stephanie, has the ability to create wonderful hairstyles. During October, I asked Stephanie if she could style the breast cancer pink ribbon into Naiya’s hair. The next week, she came in with a beautiful new design. I thought it was very sweet of Stephanie to go out of her way to create the hairstyle.

As each new month passes by, may we continue to remember to be there for others. Sometimes it is just the smallest of things that can put a smile on someone’s face.

Fighting breast cancer all year long

Submitted by Anonymous on November 18, 2012 - 10:53pm.

What a great hairdo!

Thanks for reminding people to continue to be there for those fighting breast cancer even beyond the month of October.

My goal is to help prevent breast cancer from starting in the first place!
