Gourd Art Makes Beautiful Home Decorations
September 20, 2010
I was walking through an outdoor art fair this weekend and was impressed by the pretty gourd art one of the vendors had for sale. There were dozens of different shapes and sizes for the gourds, and they were made into a number of interesting items. Some of them were birdhouses. Others were wall hangings, candleholders, beautiful containers and necklaces.
I am looking at the book Gourds by Bonnie Gibson, right now. It has all the information to get you started with gourd art. There are a bunch of projects suggested and explained. The book shows beautiful color schemes and geometric patterns. There are simple and complex projects.
Mid-Continent Public Library has a number of books to get you started with gourd craft. How about trying your hand at a totally new pastime? The Holidays are about three months away, and there is just enough time to get a few personalized gourd presents made for good friends. Inspiration is available at your library.
