Is This a Good Time to Start Your Own Business?

September 22, 2010

If you decide this is the time to start your own business that you have always imagined, the library can help. We have books, computer databases, and professional speakers that can give you information and inspiration. The list of speakers is available on our website, and also in a publication called Beyond the Books, it's available at all our branches.

One example of a helpful book is How to start a business in Missouri by Entrepreneur Press. This book talks about state and federal start-up information, contracts, statistics, business plans, and more. It gives information about marketing and identifying potential customers and their needs. Many more books on a wide variety of business subjects are available through our library catalog.

Are you familiar with the library's databases? Many of these have business information. They can provide demographic information and statistics, market analysis, advice on entrepreneurship, and specific financial information on companies that might be your future customers. Drop by any Mid-Continent Public Library branch, and we can help you use these resources as you plan your new business.
