A Golden Voice
February 29, 2012
In the past few years, it seems the media concentrated more on Whitney Houston’s trials and tribulations, her rather sad personal life, and no-shows. The one thing that nobody can dispute is her incredible talent. Her voice has a haunting, timelessness that appeals to many ages, genders, and musical preferences; be they jazz, pop, classical, or hip-hop. There are many who attain mega-star status, singers and bands, but their fame and music is transitory. Then you have the select few whose voices transcend generations. Whitney, I believe, belongs to that group.
MCPL has many of her CDs, several biographies and movies. While these movies may not have garnered Oscars, who can possibly not enjoy beautiful music, accompanied by, dare I say it, beautiful eye candy like Denzel Washington and Kevin Costner? It is not unheard of to have previously unreleased works by singers and authors come out posthumously. Even if this doesn’t happen, I know I will enjoy listening time and again to that incredible voice, maybe even alternating her music with the equally talented and distinctive voice of her cousin, Dionne Warwick.
