Golden Eagles
May 17, 2011
My husband and I live in the "suburbs" of Kansas City. In fact, we live on 10 acres just north of Worlds of Fun. Over the years, we have seen a lot of wildlife meander through our backyard. There have been deer, turkey, rabbits, squirrels, and even a badger at one point. But the most impressive by far is the pair of golden eagles that use the old oak in our "outback" as their hunting perch. We have watched them come back year after year for almost a decade. We can see them from our back patio, and have spent many evenings watching their comings and goings. We are sure they must have a nest nearby, but we have never seen it. Every once in a while, we will see what appears to be a young eagle with them. Although I have learned that the life span of an eagle in the wild is only about 15 years, I hope we may enjoy this pair for many years to come.

WOW
Golden Eagles are not exactly common in Missouri. You are very lucky!
