Glorious Grandparents!
September 04, 2012
Listening to the violin, fresh baked cinnamon rolls, drawers and drawers of costume jewelry, and fancy, little, "church" hats, disappearing in the branches of the enormous Weeping Willow, Mimosa trees, and Lake Texoma - those are memories I hold dear when I think about my grandparents. Oh boy, I don’t think I was ever very eager to take the twelve hour car ride to Kingston, OK, smashed between my 3 sisters or the 2 hour car ride to Belle, MO that always made me car sick. But, there were cousins, fried catfish and hush puppies, horseback rides, walks to the corner store to buy Grapette soda, playing in the lake, and armadillos. Families are crazy, wonderful pieces of one big puzzle, and right in the middle are grandma and grandpa.
What jumps out when you think about stories or memories of your grandparents? Sunday, September 9th is National Grandparents Day! Whether you are miles away, right next door, or maybe just have lots of memories – take time to smile because of grandma and grandpa.
