Getting Ready for Winter
November 11, 2010
As the weather has started getting cooler, my furnace is running every morning. I have started preparing for winter: tuning up the furnace, bringing plants, grills, and furniture indoors.
Mid-Continent Public Library has a wealth of Online Resources to help us get prepared for winter. My favorite is the Home Improvement Collection, which has tips for everyone. There are many articles to help us winterize our pet, yards, and outdoor plants. The Home Improvement Collection has many tips on getting our homes ready, including sealing ducts, electrical outlets, and fireplaces to help us save on our heating bills.
The Small Engine Repair Reference will help you keep your snow blowers and snowmobiles running in tip-top condition.
MasterFile Premiere has articles for winter car care. Some suggestions are to carry jumper cables, replacing your windshield wipers with winter blades, and preparing a survival kit.
Health Source: Consumer Edition has good articles that suggest ways to avoid dry skin this winter. Some of the ideas are to pat your skin dry, not rubbing it with the towel, avoiding rough fabrics like wool, and to use moisturizers and lotions regularly.
You can always check Consumer Reports.org for their suggestions on any equipment that you may need to purchase for the winter, from furnaces to snow blowers.
We all need suggestions to help us save money during the winter. Refer to some of these Online Resources for helpful information for your needs.
