Getting Ready for College
January 11, 2012
You may not be aware of all of the resources the library provides for students preparing for college. We have several excellent databases, among them are Learning Express Library and Testing and Education Reference Center. They provide subject area review courses and online practice tests for college prep courses.
At the Riverside Branch, we have two upcoming programs geared toward college-bound students. On Saturday, January 21 we are offering ACT: Test Strategies to Raise Your Score. During this 45 minute seminar, students learn to score higher on the ACT, taking advantage of the test format, using key Kaplan strategies, and maximizing their efficiency on the exam.
Another program on February 3 is an actual ACT practice test. This three and a half hour practice test will familiarize you with the English, Math, Reading, and Science Reasoning parts of the ACT. Parents are free to come for the last half-hour to discuss how to understand the test results.
Both of these events are free but do require advance registration. Hope to see you there!
