Getting Crafty with Books

July 17, 2012

When you go through the books you own, do you have a hard time getting rid of some? For me it’s so hard to just throw a book away, especially one that meant something to me. I can’t let my book collection take over my house, though, so I started thinking about what I could do with them.

You can always donate books to Goodwill or to schools, but what if you want a book memento? I kind of like the idea of a book souvenir, you know, something that shows you read it and loved it. So, I turned to Pinterest, the holy book of crafting, to get some ideas and, boy, did I find them. Creativity is endless when it comes to books and their pages. There are instructions for everything from book page wreaths, to garlands, to candle holders, to iPod chargers (which I’m sure takes a little more than craft glue and ribbon).

So, repurpose those books that don’t fit on your shelves any longer. There’s no limit to a good book and your imagination (as long as it doesn’t involve Library books)!

For more ideas, check out the Library’s guides to paper crafts.
