Get Rewarded for Reading!

April 29, 2011

It’s that time of year again….MCPL’s Summer Reading Program! The program runs from May 23 to July 30, 2011. To get a head start on their reading goals, eager readers may register online starting May 1st.

The theme for the children is "One World, Many Stories", and for the teens, it is "You Are Here." Readers must complete the required reading amounts in order to receive free books. For the third completion, they can earn a cool prize.

Parents, be sure your children are registered and reading this summer. Statistics have shown that reading even a small amount of books over the course of the summer will help your child maintain his/her reading level.

Steve Potter has an interesting piece of work in his office. On his wall, he has his Summer Reading Program Certificate from when he was a child. He has shared, on numerous occasions, how the program impacted his life. Today, he is the Director of Libraries for MCPL.

One world, many stories…..who can tell where your summer reading will take you!
