Fun Programs Just Around the Corner
August 22, 2012
Fall is just around the corner, and with its arrival, the Blue Springs North Branch will be offering some fun and unique programs. The following are just a few of those programs. Check out our Events page for a full listing for our branch (or any others).
Teen Movie Night: September 4 @ 6:30 p.m.:
Teens can join us for popcorn, a movie, and some fun social time.
Freedom From Smoking: Starting September 10 @ 7:00 p.m.:
That night will kick off our seven week program to help people stop smoking. This is a positive, evidence based program which meets for one hour on Thursday evenings for seven weeks.
Take Flight With An Eagle-Owl: September 13 @ 7:00 p.m.
Come and meet Swoop, one of the largest owls in the world. Learn fascinating facts about owls, bring your camera and get your picture taken with him.
Breakfast Mexican Style: September 18 @ 7:00 p.m.
Spice up your breakfast! Join Irma Brown and learn to create a low cost, homemade Mexican breakfast. Try your hand at making homemade flour tortillas from a unique recipe created by Irma herself! She'll also teach us how to make huevos rancheros, hot sauce, and more. Enjoy samples of all the recipes shared.
River Market Walking Tour: September 22 @ 10:00 a.m.
We will meet at the entrance of the Steamboat Arabia in the city market area (roughly 5th and Walnut) to begin this walking tour. We'll discuss the history of the area, tour the city market and the recently built main street bridge which takes us across the railroad tracks to the river.
Rumpelstiltskin Recycled!?!: September 29 @ 11:00 a.m.
Once upon a time, in the tiny country of Wastealot, the entire kingdom ran out of paper! Wastealot's king demanded that the poor miller bring his daughter, Envira Mental, to the castle to spin straw into precious paper. Well, you know the rest of the story, or do you? Find out the answers for yourself in this new musically fractured fairy tale.
Come join us for any and all programs…you’re sure to have fun!
