Frightful Night
October 18, 2010
Night of the Living Dead was released in October 1968.
I can still remember the first time I saw Night of the Living Dead with my two best friends, Diane and Patti. Patti spent most of the film sitting on the theatre floor with her back to the screen screaming. I spent countless nights lying awake each night with a night light on. While I would not recommend watching the film now, (it is embarrassingly not scary) I do suggest requesting the forthcoming book Night of the Living Dead: Behind the Scenes of the Most Terrifying Zombie Mover Ever by Joe Kane. Relive every detail of the low budget horror film of cannibalistic zombies from its conception, to casting and filming. Perhaps, it will inspire you to visit a festival dedicated to this cult classic, or give you an idea for a Halloween costume.
