FREE Tax Help for Seniors
February 08, 2013
It’s that time of year again; time to file your taxes! These days there are many different options at your fingertips to file your income taxes. You can take your forms and pay to have your taxes done by a consultant; you can purchase a software program to file your taxes online; there are forms you can pick up at the library to file by hand; or there is the option for seniors that have moderate to low incomes to have their taxes filed for FREE at our Library!
That’s right, FREE Tax Help for Seniors from AARP is available every Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. right here at the Excelsior Springs Branch! A sign-up sheet is placed outside our doors at 8:00 a.m., and it is "first come, first served" registration. The sign-up sheet only has 25 slots for names each day. Be sure to get here first thing to reserve your spot that day because they fill up fast!
The AARP Tax-Aide representatives are here to assist senior citizens with tax return preparation and to answer tax questions. Unfortunately, they CANNOT help with farm returns or rental properties. Representatives will be here through Thursday, April 11th. Be sure to check out a book or magazine while you’re here!
