Free Music? On My Internet? It's More Likely (and Legal) Than You Think
September 21, 2012
Yes, you can get free music, legally, from the Internet. How? Freegal! I just installed the Freegal app on my iPhone, downloaded Foster The People’s "Pumped Up Kicks," and now I’m listening to it. The whole process took less than 5 minutes. What is Freegal? It’s a downloadable music service that will allow you, a MCPL cardholder, to download three free songs a week from its catalog of over 3 million songs.
The Freegal app is available for both iOS and Android devices. Freegal can also be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection. All you will need is your library card number.
I'm sure you're wondering, "what's the catch." Do you get to keep the songs? Yes, forever. Will you have to wait in line for songs? No. Can you transfer the songs to an MP3 player or CD? Yes. The only limitation is that you can only download three a week. So start making your list right now.
Currently downloading "Take Five" by Dave Brubeck.
