Find Yourself after Adoption
February 15, 2017
One of the most difficult challenges in genealogy research is coming up against an adoption brick wall. The Midwest Genealogy Center receives many questions about adoption issues and has different types of resources that can help—from books to periodicals to online resources. Along with these resources, a two-part program, Adoptees: Search for Your Biological Parents, featuring Dorene Johnson, will be presented at MGC on February 21 and 28.
Dorene was adopted in 1963, and despite a loving family, she struggled with questions about her birth and took a journey of self-discovery. Dorene chronicles this search for her biological parents in her book, A Missing Piece of the Pie: Finding Myself after Adoption. Her program will help fellow adoptees by providing information to those looking to take a similar journey. In addition to being an author, Dorene is a multi-talented artist, a dedicated mother and wife, and an educational assistant in public schools for children with learning difficulties.
Don’t miss out on her fascinating story! Registration for this program is required.
