Filming the Hobbit--At Last!
March 28, 2011
Finally! The day Lord of the Rings lovers have been waiting for! The first day of filming The Hobbit! The prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Sadly, I have missed my chance to be in The Hobbit, but at least it is finally rolling. Filming of the two part movie began Monday, March 21, in New Zealand. Filming could take two years, but Part 1 is scheduled to come out in 2012.
Hate waiting that long? Me too. But in the mean time, you could freshen up on your Lord of the Rings knowledge. Click to check out Tolkien’s original books, special books about Lord of the Rings, or the movies.
OR, if you REALLY can’t wait to see "Middle Earth," check out our Geography and Travel databases for more on New Zealand. Databases like Global Road Warrior and CultureGrams have photos, points of interest, maps, and much more. You can see what culture The Hobbit cast and crew will be living in for the next two years while they themselves work to create a whole other world.
