Feeling Sick? Storytime's the Cure!

January 26, 2012

Do you remember where you were Monday at 10 a.m.? I do!

I was at storytime! And not just any storytime, I was at Toddler Storytime: where it was all about doctors and nurses and how they make us feel better when we’re sick or hurt.

Normally when I’m feeling under the weather, I’ll hunker down under a blanket with some ramen noodle soup—a college kid specialty, it’s the chicken flavoring that makes it so nommy—and also with my rag-doll kitty (pronounced Kitt-eh due to her cute and fluffy yet highly devious nature) for company. Sadly, she can’t read me a story, but today was an awesome experience. Stories were read, doctor bags were made, and none felt sick or hurt. Well I’m speaking for myself here, someone may have had a sniffle or two and I just couldn't hear it.

Anyways, our awesome Toddler Storytime reader, Jan, read two fantastic stories about feeling sick: Buzzy’s Boo-Boo and Bear Feels Sick. They are wonderful stories should your little one accrue a boo-boo, be feeling sick, and are in desperate need of a bedtime or naptime story. Stories always make me feel better, but sadly now, I'm too old to have someone read to me—that is unless I whine really badly.

We followed our healthy dose of reading by making doctor bags. The best part, we got to decorate and color them! We got a couple band-aids to help our boo-boo's feel better like Buzzy's and gloves to help us should we feel sick or hurt this winter or any time of the year really.

It was a wonderful day of storytelling!

Toddler Storytimes are Mondays at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. We also have amazing Preschool Storytimes on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.

Till next time, keep on reading!
