Federal Tax Forms Are Here
February 05, 2013
"The only certainties in life are death and taxes." (Whose quote is that?) Tax time is here, and MCPL’s got a few helpful ways to make it a little less painful.
Federal tax forms are out front on racks at the Kearney Branch. You can download any federal forms we don’t have at - http://www.irs.gov/Forms-&-Pubs.
Missouri and Kansas no longer send us forms, but you can get them all online.
For Missouri, go to - http://www.dor.mo.gov/. If you’d like to file your taxes online with Missouri, it’s http://dor.mo.gov/. Or, you can call 1.800.877.6881. I doubt you’ll talk to a human being, but hopefully, you’ll find the answers you need.
For Kansas, the link is: www.kansas.gov/webfile. The phone number is: 1.785.296.4937.
To file with Kansas City, Missouri - http://www.kcmo.org/CKCMO/Services/PayOnline/index.htm and 816.513.1120.
For tax help with a real human being, come to the Kearney Branch from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Thursday, from now till April 11. The wonderful volunteers from AARP will help tax-payers of low and middle income, with a special consideration for those over the age of 60. Appointments are strictly first-come-first-served.
Several other branches in the MCPL system also offer help from these extraordinary volunteers. Check the events page on our website for dates and times.
Remember, Albert Einstein said, "The hardest thing in the world to understand is income tax." If even he had trouble with his tax returns, then we shouldn’t feel too, bad about needing a little help with ours.
