Featured Employee of the Month for July
July 07, 2012
Kenicia Coats is a full-time librarian assistant here at the Excelsior Springs Branch. In honor of her birthday month, I asked her for an interview!
Me: Kenicia, how long have you been working here?
Kenicia: 21 years!
Me: And you’re full-time?
Kenicia: Mhmm.
Me: What does that encompass?
Kenicia: 40 hours a week, and I deal with interlibrary loan materials, reference, and cataloging issues. I order items for teachers when they request them. I’m sort of a jack-of-all trades, I do a little bit of everything!
Me: Yes, you do! So what’s your favorite part?
Kenicia: Finding items that the people who come in are looking for, especially if their obscure. It’s a challenge.
Me: So, over the years, what is one of your favorite memories from this place?
Kenicia: I like seeing children, especially the ones that I had during school time, coming in now all grown up. It’s interesting to see if they still remember me.
Me: Anything else you’d like to add?
Kenicia: I love what I do!
A big thanks to Kenicia for allowing me to interview her this month! Stay tuned next month for another “Featured Employee of the Month” blog!
