Father's Day - 2011
June 10, 2011
Father’s Day falls on the 3rd Sunday of June every year, and this year it’s June 19th. It is a day to celebrate and commemorate a fatherly figure in one’s life and the dedication, contribution, and devotion he has shown. Many families celebrate this non-federal holiday by sending a greeting card, making a phone call, or giving a gift such as a tie, sports item, electronic gadget, tools, or grilling utensils. Others make more personal intentions by writing a poem, signing a song, creating a handmade card, or writing a meaningful letter.
The library has many resources to choose from to help you plan something special for your Father’s Day:
- Under our Websites For Kids section, we have e-cards that your child can send their Father. Or, look at these awesome books you can check out for your kids!
- I also had fun taking a What Should You Give Your Dad for Father’s Day? Quiz on Kaboose. My result was "Smart Choices", which included suggestions such as buying him a new book, writing him a poem, or sending him on a treasure hunt! What result will you get?
My father reminds me how blessed he was when I was born. He says, "You were my Father’s Day present" because I was born on Father’s Day! He may feel like I was a blessing to him, but I feel like he is a blessing to me! How has your father been a blessing to you? Or, have you been a father that has been blessed with a child? We’d love for you to share your memories and stories with us!
