Is Fantasy Missing From Your Life?

March 12, 2012

Times are stressful and a little fantasy is a great way to escape from day to day pressures. Do you want to spice up your romance? Ever wanted to date a vampire and possibly live forever? These are two totally different subjects, but they follow along with my blog theme.

Who doesn’t want to lose themselves in a good novel? No one says that you must follow one path! Come on into your local branch and lose yourself in a fantasy novel or a self-help novel. Everyone could use some improvement. Either way, you win.

If fantasy is what you desire, MCPL has the items to please. We have books, CDs, periodicals, and DVDs. MCPL has acquired eBooks as well, so you can lose yourself in your portable device. Really, do you prefer an actual book or a hard, cold, sleek portable device? That is a question most library workers are afraid to ask. What is it about these devices that take control of us? Truly, I don’t get it. Darn, a sentence ended with a proposition. (I need to date an English major) Technology is fantastic, but I begin to worry when it becomes an obsession. We truly rely too much on technology, but that is what reality has become. Survival of the fittest has now become survival of the technological mind. Wow that is a big statement. What do you think?

Remember, the experience is just more than reading the book. It is living the book. Who has not felt the pain of the character in the novel? How many have guessed what was coming but kept on reading? How many guested wrong? The author that brings the passion, that ump, is why we keep reading. What more can an author bring? That is the question.
