Family Storytime

January 27, 2012

What’s happening at Blue Springs North Branch’s Family Storytime? In a word, lots.

Every week, very special families gather for a fun time. There is a short themed video. Kids who have become "storytime" buddies sit next to each other and enjoy this quiet time. Next, we move on to some fun and rollicking stories. The stories are interactive, and the kids have fun with their contributions. Okay, I don’t know about you, but I am ready for some "wiggle time." This is when we stop sitting, and well, we wiggle!

Moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, and kids get to work their muscles. We learn about physical fitness, good listening, and following directions. Oh, and we practice our counting. Step one is to stretch and warm up our muscles. One should never do a physical activity without warming up, right? We count out our exercises…..in German! That is "wunderbar!"

Now, we are ready for some fun wiggling. There’s the Chicken Dance, the Shimmy Shake, Jump Down, Turn Around, to name a few of our selections. Wow, my heart is racing just thinking about it. We are now all done wiggling. Is it craft time? NO!!!!!!! Our hearts are pounding, and now it is time for a cool down song. I can almost hear the exciting beat of our favorite tune, Peanut Butter and Jelly.

Now it is time for a fun craft. What will it be this week: a shark, a spider, a penguin, or perhaps a frog? The answer to that question will be revealed at our next storytime.

You are hereby invited to come on by and see for yourselves. We can hardly wait to see you!
