Fall Is My Favorite Season
October 12, 2011
Fall is my favorite season! As the hot summer ends and the cooler weather begins, I love to open my windows to let the cool breeze blow through the house.
Fall is a time to enjoy a campfire with family and friends while roasting hotdogs and marshmallows.
Walking through the woods listening to the dry leaves crunch beneath my boots, I enjoy the beautiful array of festive colors on the trees. I laugh at the red squirrels scolding me as they scurry around gathering nuts to store for winter. Gazing at the "V" formation of birds overhead going south, I can just feel one season winding down and the pull of a new season setting in. As I walk along the edge of the lake, I think about Henry David Thoreau’s book, Walden, and I feel some of the solitude Thoreau must have felt.
