The Fall Hunting Season

November 05, 2010

As fall approaches, along with it comes one of my favorite times of the year, Hunting Season.  I was not raised in a hunting family, even though I was raised as a country girl. My first experience with hunting was when I met my husband thirty some years ago. At first, I was very much against hunting, but I have to say I also knew nothing about it. As time went on, I eventually married my husband, "The Hunter", and learned more about the benefits hunting provides for the wildlife, as well as for the food source it provides for us. There were times when we were first starting out as a new married couple that without my husband's hunting and bringing wildlife home, we would have had no dinner for the table.

Anyway, as a way of spending more time with my husband and after learning more about the benefits to the wildlife populations, I decided to give it a try.  I have to say, I have learned to love it as much as he does. There's just something to say for being in the woods as the sun rises and all the critters are either waking up or heading off to their sleeping spots for the day. It's just a beautiful time of day. The same can be said as the sun is setting in the evening. There is just so much more to it than just the hunt.

The point to all my ramblings is to let you know that if you are a hunter or just thinking of becoming one, MCPL has many excellent resources to use for your hunting needs, such as tips, techniques and strategies, as well as many great wild game recipes. Come on in or go online and check them out!
