Fall Gardening Tips

October 07, 2011

Although October may be a unique month to talk about a gardening website, we wanted to point out the Gardening page of the Better Homes and Gardens website because of the robust information it supplies. This site offers plenty of options for sprucing up your garden in the fall, pruning tips, and planting information for stunning spring blooms. There’s even a link to stencils to create your perfect jack-o-lantern! Glorious photos, a comprehensive plant encyclopedia, an editors’ blog, and links to a variety of articles for every season are just a few of the features on this gardening webpage.

To start planning a new garden for next year (gardeners like me can never plan too early), check out the Garden Plan Finder. This interactive tool uses a quick quiz to match up your gardening style and location with the perfect plants. Download and print your custom plan that offers full color photos for plant placement, a plant list, and a full page of tips for installing your garden. You can even upload pictures of your current garden to share. Enjoy the inspiration as you design and maintain the best gardens for your outdoor spaces.

You can access this site from the Gardening page of our Web Resources. The library also offers several gardening books published by Better Homes and Gardens including a couple of my favorites: Beds and Borders and Dream Gardens Across America.
