Exercise Your Brain with No Strain or Monetary Pain
August 16, 2012
Last spring, I took an online course through ed2go. I registered and paid for the course through my local community college. You can now take that same course for free through the MCPL website!
Why use ed2go? I wanted to know more about grant writing. I received a wealth of information when I took the course. By passing a final exam, I was given a printable award of completion. You can skip the final exam and still download and print the course material.
Are you, or perhaps your child, taking Algebra, Chemistry, or Biology? Not to worry. There are beginner courses for these three subjects. The classes last for 6 weeks. Twice a week, information can be downloaded about the specific subject. It’s not required for you to take any quizzes or do any of the assignments. I did find that by doing the assignments and quizzes, I tended to retain more of the information.
Perhaps you’re thinking of keeping a journal, writing poetry, or your life story. There are classes available. Maybe, you would like to improve your computer application skills. There are 19 classes from which to choose. Digital photography, graphic design, and web design are also covered. There are business, legal, finance, and personal development classes. I have only scratched the surface of possibilities.
These are "no fear" classes. If you register for a class and find it’s not what you wanted, you don’t have to drop the class. The class I took had a place to post questions we had or experiences we wished to share. You can choose not to post anything. Nobody will grade you, judge you, or know if you don’t understand. In a way, it’s like auditing a class for free.
You can find our ed2go here. Peruse the catalogue. Instructions for enrolling are fairly easy. If you run into trouble, just give us a call.
Enjoy!
