Every Child Ready To Read: SINGING!
March 15, 2012
You read that right; singing is an incredible tool to teach early language skills needed for future reading abilities. Singing helps children to hear the different sounds that letters can make, slows language down for better comprehension, illustrates the rhythms of reading, and can even teach concepts of development!
Think of all of the songs you learned as a child that you still remember as an adult, and share these with your own children. You may have learned colors, numbers, and other learning concepts through song. The Alphabet song teaches letters. Nursery rhymes are rich in language. Silly songs show kids that language is fun!
Your child doesn’t care if you can’t carry a tune in bucket, really. And, I’ll just bet that they’ll be your biggest fan.
